Attack Targeting American Warship off Yemen’s Coast
The United States admitted on Wednesday, that its warships had been attacked off Yemen coast.
The US Navy has not identified the attack, which it said took place in Aden Gulf, but it hinted in a statement, accompanied by a photo of an explosion near the destroyer “USS Portland”, that it was a booby-trapped boat.
The Navy explained that “the clashes was successful,” and that the destroyer used a “laser” weapon to counter the attack.
It was not confirmed by an independent source whether the attack was actually carried out in light of the fact that no party claimed responsibility for it, or that it is as part of an American exercise through which it is trying to show off, and justify its military presence in this strategic region on the way to maritime navigation around the world.
