The sources reported that Jordanian, Sudanese and American forces, along with Emiratis, are currently deployed at Al-Rayyan Military Base, which is the second base of multinational forces opened by Emirates on the eastern coast of Yemen, after the operations room in the most important base on the island of Socotra.
Al Rayyan Civil Airport is located near the coast of the Arabian Sea, but UAE worked to rehabilitate the airport, which it refused to reopen to civilian flights, as an alternative military base to its base on the Eritrean island of Assab.
Press investigations and international news agencies during the past years of UAE’s control of the airport in 2016 after it received the city from al-Qaeda, showed pictures of establishment of a sea pier as a military port to the depth of the airport, with the fact that warships are now allowed to enter directly to the airport, instead of transport planes, which have been attracting attention, in addition to the military, a large area of the beaches of Mukalla to secure the movement of entry and exit.
The images taken by Sana’a satellites show the development of military sites south of the airport runway, helicopter and armored stand before embarking on a sea pier extending for about 214 meters and a width of 17, which allowed the marine tankers to unload the shipments of heavy weapons with ease.
It also shows the development of military barracks, football fields and hangars for drones and helicopters.
The deployment of the multinational forces in Mukalla came as part of a plan deployment for the forces of the war coalition on Yemen along the eastern coast of the country due to its strategic location on the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean, in addition to the advantages and privileges of the coastal provinces, oil and gas, It is part of a plan to re-separate the eastern region of Yemen, extending from Shabwah to Mahrah, passing through Hadramout next to Socotra, which is witnessing an unprecedented movement that began in Socotra, where it was handed over to the Transitional Council and Shabwah, which was handed over to the Saleh family, and its throes still raging in Hadhramaut and Al-Mahrah, amid indications of a tendency to put the final touches on the future of this region.
