Emirati Movement to Impose Reality on Socotra before Start of Yemeni Peace
UAE launched on Tuesday, a wide campaign to market the Yemeni island of Socotra as the eighth emirate. This coincides with the start of international moves to advance a peace process, which indicates Abu Dhabi’s efforts to seize the strategic island as a gain.
Exclusive-alkhabar alyemeni:
The campaign was led by the Adviser to the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Abdul Khaliq Abdullah, who published a picture of the island, which he attached to a tweet, in which he talks about the desire of the people of the island to officially join the Emirates.
Abdullah tried to review the treasures of the island, which he said hosts an amazing and exceptional density of biological and plant diversity, trees and wild insects, most notably 730 species of fish and 192 birds and 96 of the reptiles next to Socotra dragon tree.
Abdullah’s presentation coincided with the results of his country’s inventory, which has acquired the island since 2017, with a media campaign launched by southern and Emirati activists to demand the inclusion of the island as an eighth emirate.
The timing of the new Emirati movement coincides with the launch of a movement in the Jordanian and Saudi capitals, to push for a comprehensive peace process in Yemen, to Abu Dhabi’s efforts, which differed with Hadi because of the island’s administration period
where it aspires for a century, while Hadi offered half the term, to tighten its grip on the island located at the intersection of the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean, all the way to the Gulf of Aden, imposing a fait accompli there would anticipate any political path to end the war in which it has been participating on the side of Saudi Arabia since 2015.
