Sana’a Defense: Naval Battle Is Priority, Among Firm Choices to Protect Yemen’s Sovereignty
Minister of Defense in Sana’a government, Major General Mohammed Nasser Al-Atefi, confirmed on Tuesday that maritime security and sovereignty of Yemeni territorial waters is a red line.
“The Bab al-Mandab Strait, the Gulf of Aden, the Arabian Sea, the territorial extension of the Socotra archipelago and the Yemeni islands are Yemeni lands over which we have full sovereignty,” the minister Al-Atefi said, in a press statement.
Al-Atefi pointed out that Sana’a armed forces have taken all measures to ensure that they deal forcefully and firmly with any development threatening the national sovereignty or approaches maritime sovereignty.
He announced that Sana’a forces would take disciplinary methods and options for those who plunder or tamper with the rights of the steadfast Yemeni people in due course.
“What we are witnessing today in terms of hostilities, conspiracies, sabotage and siege, is a sure testimony that the coalition does not want or wish to establish any form of peace and calm, and does not have any real willingness to think positively about stability and peace in the region and respect the will of the Yemeni people,” the minister went on to say.
He pointed out that the enemy seeks to turn its direct war into an internal conflict among the people of one Yemen, whether in the free or “occupied provinces”, fragment the social fabric, tear and obliterate the Yemeni identity, tamper with the prisoners’ file, in addition to purchase offensive weapons and air defense systems, establish military bases in the Yemeni islands, and the plundering of Yemen’s oil wealth.
The minister considered the file of prisoners and the legitimate rights of the Yemeni people, including salaries, a humanitarian file, noting that that the honorable legacy of the martyrs is a history full of giving, sacrifice to break the plots of the forces of tyranny, “aggression”, and destructive chaos.
He pointed out that the strong national message of the speech of the leader of the revolution, Sayyed Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, on the anniversary of the martyr, was tantamount to a speech revealing facts, and everyone had to bear the responsibility in the practical embodiment and actual implementation of its contents on reality.
