President of Sana’a SPC Meets with UN Envoy
President of pro-Houthis Supreme Political Council (SPC), the highest ruling authority in Sana’a, Mahdi al-Mashat, met today, Monday, with the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, and his accompanying team.
During the meeting, Al-Mashat stressed the importance of the United Nations’ role and its efforts to advance the peace process in Yemen.
“We, in the Republic of Yemen, are keen to alleviate the human suffering of the Yemeni people caused by the war, and to fulfill the people’s demands for a just and honorable peace,” he said.
For his part, Grundberg praised the efforts of President Mahdi Al-Mashat in pushing the peace process forward and his keenness on the success of the truce during the previous period.
The meeting was attended by Parliament Speaker Yahya Al-Rai, Prime Minister Dr. Abdulaziz bin Habtoor, and Deputy Prime Minister for Defense and Security Affairs Lieutenant General Jalal Al-Ruwaishan.
The United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, arrived on Monday at Sana’a International Airport.
Informed sources revealed that Grundberg would meet with the leadership of the Supreme Political Council and the Sana’a government to discuss the peace developments.
According to the sources, the UN envoy, during his visit to Sana’a, will give a briefing to the UN Security Council, through visual communication.
