Agreement Reached to Implement Broad Exchange of Prisoners
The head of Sana’a Committee for Prisoners Affairs, Abdul Qadir Al-Murtada, confirmed that an agreement had been reached to implement a broad exchange deal for prisoners.
Al-Murtada said in a tweet on Twitter: “Today, in Switzerland, we concluded the round of negotiations on the prisoner file, and it was agreed to implement a broad exchange deal that includes 706 of our prisoners in exchange for 181 prisoners of the other side, including Saudis and Sudanese.”
He indicated that the deal will be implemented after three weeks, provided that another round will be held after the month of Ramadan to complete the implementation of the rest of the agreement.
The head of the national negotiating delegation, Mohamed Abdel Salam, revealed later today that the ongoing negotiations on the prisoner file are heading towards completing an exchange deal that includes 700 prisoners, including women and civilians, in exchange for the release of 15 Saudi prisoners of war, three Sudanese and others.
Abdel Salam said in a tweet on “Twitter”: “Based on the Sweden agreement and after rounds of negotiations to deal with the prisoners’ file, the ongoing negotiations in Geneva, under UN auspices, are heading towards reaching a humanitarian deal.”
