A Kidnapped Family in Marib Prisons Describes the Circumstances of Their Daughter’s Kidnapping – Details
The family of Yusra Mohammed Shater, who was kidnapped in September 2022 while working on a vaccination campaign and is currently being held in the Political Security Prison in Marib, has shared some details about her kidnapping.
Sana’a – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The kidnapped’s brother, Hassan Shater, confirmed in a video released by the ‘Insan Organization’ that ‘Yusra was kidnapped in Marib while working on a COVID-19 vaccination campaign,’ and her sister stated in the same video that ‘she is officially tasked with traveling to Marib during vaccination campaigns of the World Health Organization.”
In light of the fact that “the abduction of women in the customs and traditions of Yemen is a black shame,” the kidnapped’s sister stated, “On September 24th of last year, the Political Security in Marib abducted her sister, and since then, before ten months, she has remained in detention without any charges being filed.”
The family of Yusra is urging “the international community, the United Nations, and its organizations to pressure the parties involved in kidnapping and killing their workers while performing their humanitarian duties,” pleading with “international organizations, especially the World Health Organization, with which their daughter used to work, to act quickly to release her.”
According to earlier human rights reports, there were almost 1,200 civilian abductees in Marib prisons between November 2021 and May 2023, including women and children.
