Israel has blocked up to 83 percent of food aid from entering the Gaza Strip, a year after the war against Palestinians in the Strip, according to a press release issued by 16 UN humanitarian aid organizations. At least 12 people were killed in Israeli shelling of a school in Gaza.
A statement issued by 16 organizations, including Save the Children, Oxfam, the Danish Refugee Council and the Norwegian Refugee Council, said that 83 percent of the food aid needed does not reach Gaza, and this decrease means that people in Gaza have moved from eating two meals a day on average, to just one meal a day.
“An estimated 50,000 children, aged 6 to 59 months, urgently need treatment for malnutrition by the end of the year,” the press release said.On the ground, at least 12 people were killed and others injured by Israeli aerial bombardment of the Ibn al-Haytham school in the Shujaiya neighborhood east of Gaza City.
