New York Sun: Houthis threaten America’s global leadership
Exclusive Follow ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The American newspaper “New York Sun” has mentioned that the armed forces of Yemen affiliated with the Sana’a government have become a strategic challenge for the incoming US President to the White House, Donald Trump, especially with reports of a growing alliance between them and Russia.
The newspaper pointed out that the so-called “Houthis” are emerging as a major player within the alliance opposing American hegemony in the Middle East, warning that disrupting trade movements in the Red Sea, one of the most crucial global shipping routes, could become a potent weapon in the hands of this growing alliance seeking to undermine and weaken America’s global leadership.
Quoting researcher Inbal Neisim Lufton, specializing in Yemeni affairs at the Open University in Israel, as saying that Russian support for Sana’a “primarily includes intelligence information and perhaps discussions regarding arms supply.”
The report added that the United States and its allies have so far been unable to counter Yemeni attacks that “threaten freedom of navigation in the Red Sea,” according to the newspaper, indicating that the continuation of these movements could reshape the geopolitical balances in the region.
This report comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East and the emergence of new axes opposed to American policies, reflecting the increasing challenges facing American influence in the region, with Yemen being the primary reason for its weakening over the past year.
