Dr. Munir al-Barsh, Director General of the Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, said that the Israeli occupation deliberately obstructs the travel of sick cases through the Rafah land crossing, and only allows small numbers to travel, contrary to what was agreed upon in the terms of the ceasefire agreement.
Al-Borsh said, in exclusive statements to the Qatar News Agency (QNA), that the sick cases allowed to travel daily so far, less than 50 cases, out of 150 cases that were agreed to be discharged on a daily basis, in light of the large numbers of wounded and sick who need treatment abroad.
He stated that among the obstacles and complications of the occupation for the travel process of the sick and wounded, a number of these cases obtain the approval of the Israeli side to travel, but they are informed later on the day of travel itself of the rejection, whether for the patient or his companions, which hinders the travel process and prompts its delay or cancellation completely.
Al-Barsh stressed that the occupation forces are dragging their feet in implementing the humanitarian protocol attached to the ceasefire agreement, especially in the humanitarian and medical aspects, including the continued prevention of the entry of fuel, generators, and medical devices to hospitals, pointing out that sick, wounded and elderly children are threatened with death because of preventing the entry of the needs of the Ministry of Health.
