Dangerous escalation in the region… Netanyahu seeks to undermine the ceasefire agreement and pushes towards confrontation, and Yemen is militarily present

Follow ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

Report: Yahya Mohammed Al-Sharfi:

The region is experiencing an escalating state of tension amid serious fears of the collapse of the ceasefire agreement between the Palestinian resistance and the Israeli occupation in light of moves led by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to thwart any progress in the negotiating process, which threatens to bring back large-scale military confrontations.

Netanyahu Obstructs the Second Phase of the Agreement:

Netanyahu is making every effort to delay the implementation of the second stage of the ceasefire agreement, as he resorted to changing the main officials involved in the negotiations with Hamas, a step interpreted as an attempt to reshape the negotiating team in line with his political agenda that rejects the agreement.

His escalatory rhetoric leaves no room for doubt about his intentions, as he openly declares his quest to retrieve the Israeli prisoners from the grip of the resistance while at the same time threatening to return to war as soon as the prisoner exchange deals are completed. This approach has raised questions about the seriousness of Israel’s commitment to the agreement, especially since it is practically demanding that the resistance hand over the Israeli prisoners and then proceeds to implement its military and political plans against Gaza.

Incitement and Escalation with Trump’s Support:

It appears that Netanyahu is not acting in isolation from external influences, as he enjoys direct support and encouragement from US President Donald Trump, who has returned to the White House with unconditional positions supporting all the crimes of the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people and those who support them. Netanyahu’s repeated statements indicate the adoption of a provocative discourse directed at the Palestinian resistance, aimed at pushing it to make escalatory decisions that disrupt the agreement, which serves the interests of the Israeli right-wing that seeks to maintain the tension to strengthen its domestic popularity.

The Displacement Plan and Measures to Circumvent the Agreement:

Netanyahu’s approach is not limited to political and military obstructionism but extends to manipulating the terms of the humanitarian agreements that have been reached. He publicly expressed his support for a plan aimed at displacing the residents of Gaza, considering the idea “feasible to implement,” a matter that increases the concern of Palestinians and the international community regarding the future of the Strip and its inhabitants.

On the ground, Netanyahu resorted to circumventing the resistance’s conditions regarding the resumption of prisoner exchange deals. According to the humanitarian protocol included in the ceasefire agreement, it was scheduled to bring in 60,000 mobile homes to Gaza, in addition to heavy equipment to rebuild what the Israeli aggression had destroyed. However, Netanyahu obstructed this process, as he allowed the mobile homes and equipment to reach the Rafah crossing on the Egyptian side, but refused to bring them into Gaza after the resistance released three Israeli prisoners last Saturday.

In flagrant defiance of the agreement, Netanyahu stated, “If the resistance releases all the prisoners before next Saturday, we will bring in hundreds of mobile homes,” which is a clear violation of the understandings that took place and puts the future of the truce at stake.

Ongoing Provocations and New Assassinations:

The occupation’s violations of the ceasefire have not stopped in the past two days, as Israel carried out an airstrike on the city of Rafah in a blatant breach of the truce. It also assassinated the Hamas leader, Muhammad Shaheen, in an air strike that targeted his vehicle in the Lebanese city of Sidon, a step that reflects the continuation of the Israeli policy of assassinations despite the concluded agreements.

Regional Risks of the Collapse of the Agreement:

The consequences of the failure of the agreement are not limited to the Palestinian territories but extend to encompass the entire region. The Yemeni Ansar Allah group (the Houthis) has, through its leader Abdulmalik Al-Houthi and the leadership of the state and the army, threatened to return to military escalation against Israel in the event of the collapse of the truce in Gaza.

The group vowed to use supersonic ballistic missiles, winged missiles, and drones to strike Israeli targets, in addition to resuming operations to cut maritime navigation directly or indirectly related to Israel, the US, and Britain.

A New Military Confrontation on the Horizon?

In light of the increasing Israeli intransigence and refusal to abide by the terms of the agreement, it appears that the region is heading towards a new escalation that may be more violent than the previous one. While the Palestinian resistance is trying to impose its conditions and ensure the occupation’s commitment, the maneuvers led by Netanyahu may push it to reconsider the prisoner exchange deals, which could lead to the complete collapse of the agreement and a return of the confrontation to ground zero.

The most important question remains: Will Netanyahu push the region into a comprehensive military confrontation for his political interests?
