International newspapers and websites discussed the Israeli threats to resume the war in the Gaza Strip, and the fears it leaves for the people of Gaza, and the pressures it said “US President Donald Trump is under to declare Israel’s ownership of the West Bank.”
A report by the Guardian newspaper stated that “terror looms over Gaza as recent airstrikes weaken hopes of renewing the ceasefire, and fears grow of a return to war in Gaza this week, amid faltering diplomatic efforts.”
The report stated that Israeli airstrikes are carried out almost daily on the devastated Strip, noting that the first phase of the prisoner exchange and ceasefire agreement ended more than a week ago, and the second phase has been suspended, which has plunged Gaza and its residents into a state of doubt.
In the same context, the Wall Street Journal quoted Israeli sources as saying that “Tel Aviv is developing plans to escalate the fighting against the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), and pressure it to return the prisoners in Gaza.”
She explained that after closing the crossings of the Strip last week, the Israeli authorities may stop supplying Gaza with electricity and water, and if these measures do not succeed, Israel may resume air strikes and tactical operations, and “may move to force hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to leave their homes again.”
