The Palestinian Civil Defense in Gaza accused the Israeli army on Monday of committing “field executions” after a shooting that killed 15 paramedics in the Gaza Strip in March. This was in response to an internal investigation report published by the army on Sunday.
Mohammed al-Mughayyir, director of medical supplies for the Civil Defense in Gaza, said, “The video that emerged, filmed by one of the paramedics, proves the Israeli occupation’s narrative is false, and that it carried out field executions.”
Al-Mughayyir asserted that the Israeli narrative is “baseless,” while describing it as “a circumvention of international legitimacy resolutions and an evasion of accountability and international prosecution for this major crime.”
Fifteen paramedics and UN staff were killed on March 23 after Palestinian Red Crescent Society ambulances, along with a UN vehicle and a fire truck, came under fire from the Israeli army. This came just days after Israel resumed its airstrikes and ground and naval operations in the Palestinian Strip. During the incident, Israeli forces opened fire on civil defense and Palestinian Red Crescent teams in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip. Israeli forces confirmed that six Hamas members were in the ambulances that came under fire.
