The Director-General of the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, Munir al-Barsh, said on Tuesday that the closure of the crossings has exacerbated the deterioration of the situation in the Strip, particularly in hospitals.
In press statements, al-Barsh added that the Strip “is facing a very major crisis, and children and pregnant women are the most affected.”
He stressed that “the occupation is exterminating the Palestinian race,” adding that “the occupation is denying our children water and food.”
Al-Barsh noted that more than 40,000 children in the Strip have been orphaned, while 100 children have lost their lives while waiting for the crossing to open.
He explained that “approximately one million children in the Strip are deprived of life-saving assistance.”
He emphasized that “those who are being lost as a result of the indirect consequences of the war are more numerous than those killed by the occupation’s fire.”
