American move to dispense with fighter jets following the downing of one in Yemen

The US began, on Thursday, to adjust confrontation strategy in Yemen, coinciding with the increase in its losses in the war there.

Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

The American “Wall Street Journal” quoted military officials as saying that the changes include intensifying the use of drones in Yemen while reducing the use of fighter jets, and the sources did not explain the motives behind this measure.

This American step comes just two days after the American Defense acknowledged the downing of an F-18 fighter jet in Yemen, which confirms the statements of officials in Sanaa about downing it and reveals the escalating American fears of continuing losses with the Yemeni forces introducing their latest defense systems.

The intensification of the use of drones in Yemen had previously shown American weakness, with the success of the Yemeni forces in downing about 22 “MQ-9” drones since last year, which are the reconnaissance and combat drones that the American forces rely on around the world and constitute the backbone of espionage and assassination operations.

The downing of fighter jets poses a significant burden on the American forces, as each fighter jet costs around $60 million, compared to the $30 million price of the “MQ-9.”
