Gaza’s destroyed markets need urgent rehabilitation to restore life

The Gaza Municipality confirmed that the city’s central markets, which suffered extensive destruction during the ongoing war of extermination since October 7, 2023, are in urgent need of rehabilitation to enable the return of commercial life.

The municipality explained that the destruction affected, either completely or partially, eight central markets, including: Sheikh Radwan Market, the Basatat Market, the Yarmouk Popular Market, the Beach Camp Market, the Fish Market, and the Dalala Market, in addition to the buildings of the Firas Market adjacent to the Archives Building, the Vegetable Khan, and the municipal shops in the Zawiya Market.

The Gaza Municipality estimated the total cost of rehabilitating these markets at approximately $17.5 million, while the estimated need for these markets by the end of 2025 is approximately $2.5 million.
