A German-Chinese tension following interception of fighter jet off Yemen

Germany summoned the Chinese ambassador on Tuesday amid tensions between the two countries over developments in the Red Sea.

Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

Reuters reported that German officials said the summoning of the Chinese ambassador was due to the interception of a German fighter jet by Chinese battleships during its flight in the airspace of the Red Sea near Yemen.

The sources explained that the Chinese forces launched a laser beam on the German aircraft, endangering its crew, but did not specify the timing of the interception or the fate of the jet.

Yemen has witnessed recent developments, most notably the Israeli attack on the ports of Hudaydah in the Red Sea.

These developments may put Germany on the list of Yemeni targets, as its involvement in the recent attack is revealed.

It is worth noting that Germany is participating in the European Union mission in the Red Sea, which was formed in February of last year, but has reduced its participation to only frigates.
