Hebrew newspaper “The Marker”: Closure of Eilat Port causes huge economic losses

The Hebrew economic newspaper “The Marker” revealed in a special report the catastrophic repercussions of the closure of Eilat Port (Umm Al-Rashrash) on the Israeli economy, stating that “the daily costs of the closure exceed 35 million shekels (10 million dollars) in the commercial sector alone.”

Follow-ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

The newspaper quoted Israeli economic sources as saying, “Shipping costs have increased by 400% due to diverting routes to distant ports, and exports of Dead Sea products and southern industries have completely halted.”

The newspaper added in its report, “International shipping companies have begun withdrawing their ships from the port out of fear of being targeted, which threatens to lose confidence in Israeli ports in the long term.”

According to the newspaper, “Economic experts warn of a contraction in the Israeli economy by 3% this year, the loss of thousands of jobs in the logistics sector, and an unprecedented rise in the prices of imported goods.”

It is noted that Eilat Port used to receive over 2.5 million tons of goods annually and serves as a strategic outlet for trade with Asia and Africa, according to official data from the occupation, indicating that its closure due to the Yemeni decision constituted a significant blow to the Zionist economy.
