Israeli media: Israel is facing a silent global siege because of the situation in Gaza

The Hebrew newspaper Calcalist said that Israel is facing what it described as a “silent siege” as a result of the war on Gaza and the scenes of suffering and starvation it has left behind against the Palestinians, stressing that this undeclared siege exacerbates Tel Aviv’s international isolation and its negative impact extends to the economy, academic, and technology sectors.

The newspaper explained that the continuation of the war and the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Gaza increases the world’s opposition to Israel, pointing out that companies, universities, and institutions have begun to avoid dealing with Israelis, which led to the cancellation of contracts, postponement of visits, and refusal to adopt Israeli certificates and standards, up to the exclusion of researchers and academics.

It quoted Israeli businessmen confirming that there is an undeclared boycott that is felt daily in the interruption of communication and the refusal of commercial transactions, while the head of the Industrialists Association indicated that statements by ministers in Netanyahu’s government about starving Gaza are being used as evidence against Israel and harming its reputation.

It also showed that the boycott has extended to the energy and technology sectors, where companies are facing obstacles in renewing financial accreditations or receiving foreign experts, in addition to the suspension of academic and research projects.

The newspaper concluded that these developments reflect Israel’s transformation from an “innovation power” to a “symbol of aggression,” considering that the “silent siege” is more dangerous than any declared siege because it infiltrates various sectors gradually and widely.
