For months, Israel has been preventing the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees “UNRWA” from bringing humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, despite the ceasefire agreement in force since Friday.
In a written statement, UNRWA reported that Israel has been preventing it since March 2 from bringing humanitarian aid, including food items, to the Gaza Strip. The statement added that Israel continued this embargo on UNRWA, despite reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza last week.
He pointed out that UNRWA needs humanitarian aid supplies, estimated at thousands of trucks, and enough to meet the nutritional needs of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, for a period of 3 months.
UNRWA also has shelters for 1.3 million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, which suffers from widespread destruction due to the Israeli genocide.
The statement stressed that the UN agency is the largest field humanitarian relief agency in the Gaza Strip, with 12,000 employees working.
