Independent UN Commission: Israel committed genocide in Gaza

An independent international commission of inquiry of the United Nations urged member states to use all available means to ensure the cessation of hostilities continues and provide broad international support for the Palestinian right to self-determination and the establishment of a Palestinian state.
The commission* published a report on September 16, concluding that Israel had committed genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. It urged Israel and all states to fulfill their legal obligations under international law to “end this genocide and punish those responsible.”
On Tuesday, the commission, formed by the Human Rights Council, submitted the same report to the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly, which is responsible for social, humanitarian, and cultural affairs, and a large part of whose work focuses on examining issues related to human rights.
