Queues of hungry people outside soup kitchens… scenes that embody the continuation of Israel’s starvation policy

Despite weeks having passed since the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, the long lines of Palestinians waiting outside charitable soup kitchens for free food remain a stark reminder of the daily suffering in a territory ravaged by the Israeli war and blockade.

These scenes embody the ongoing policy of starvation, as the occupation continues to impose restrictions on the entry of basic food supplies while allowing the entry of luxury goods. Meanwhile, the prices of essential necessities remain beyond the reach of most Palestinians in Gaza.

In the Mawasi area of ​​Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip, dozens of Palestinians, mostly women and children, gather with their empty containers in front of the “Al-Saada” soup kitchen, hoping to receive a meal.

Dozens of soup kitchens that distribute food for free are spread throughout Gaza. Their role became prominent during the war of extermination, which came to a relative halt on October 10th, and they continue to operate despite the ceasefire, due to the ongoing difficult humanitarian conditions.
