The occupation releases a number of Gaza detainees

On Monday morning, the Israeli army released a number of Palestinian prisoners from the Gaza Strip, after months of detention in Israeli prisons that lacked the minimum humanitarian standards.

The Prisoners Information Office confirmed, in a post via Telegram, that the released prisoners were transferred through the Kerem Shalom crossing to the “Shuhada Al-Aqsa” hospital in Deir al-Balah, in the middle of the Gaza Strip, by the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The office indicated that the released included a number of prisoners who suffered from harsh detention conditions, pointing out that some of them spent many months in the occupation prisons.

Israel had released about 1,700 prisoners from the Gaza Strip on October 13, as part of the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement signed by Hamas with Israel, under the auspices of Egypt, Qatar and Turkey, and the mediation of the US president.

The agreement, implemented on October 10, comprises several phases. Most of the released prisoners arrived in critical condition, reporting torture, starvation, and humiliation in Israeli prisons.

In the same context, the Prisoners’ Media Office revealed on Friday medical evidence and field examinations accompanying Israel’s handover of the bodies of several prisoners, indicating that these prisoners were summarily executed after being tortured, bound, and run over by military vehicles.
