Local sources in Gaza reported on Monday that the death toll from the recent storms since the beginning of December has risen to 25, including six children, according to the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA).
Civil defense and rescue teams in Gaza indicated that 18 residential buildings, already damaged by previous Israeli airstrikes, have completely collapsed due to the storms and heavy rains. More than 110 other residential buildings have suffered severe partial collapses, posing a direct threat to the lives of thousands of residents.
Ninety percent of the tents of displaced people have been blown away and flooded by the heavy rains and strong winds across the Gaza Strip. Thousands of families have lost their temporary shelter and their meager belongings, including clothing, blankets, and mattresses, exacerbating their already dire humanitarian situation.
Since Saturday, the Gaza Strip has been affected by a polar storm, the third of its kind since the start of winter, bringing heavy rains and strong winds.
The humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues, despite the ceasefire agreement coming into effect on October 10. This crisis has been exacerbated by the Zionist entity’s disavowal of its obligations under the agreement, through the continued closure of crossings and the failure to allow the entry of the agreed-upon quantities of food, relief, medical supplies, shelter materials, and mobile homes.
