The Government Media Office in Gaza documented the killing of 56 journalists in 2025 while performing their professional duties, bringing the total number of journalists killed since the start of the genocidal campaign against the Palestinian people to 275.
The office noted that the fate of three journalists remains unknown, while more than 420 journalists sustained injuries of varying severity while carrying out their work. This reflects the perilous situation faced by Palestinian media professionals.
Fifty journalists were also subjected to arrest and torture, in flagrant violation of all international laws and conventions that guarantee the protection of journalists during armed conflicts. This indicates a systematic targeting of the free Palestinian narrative.
The office explained that these figures reflect the extent of the deliberate targeting of Palestinian journalists, emphasizing that the Israeli occupation seeks to silence the voice of truth through killing, intimidation, and arrest, in grave violation of humanitarian norms and international law.
