Doctors Without Borders fears it may have to suspend its operations in the Gaza Strip

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) said in a statement Sunday that Israel has suspended its registration under its new regulations for operating in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, without specifying a timeframe.
The international organization added in a statement published on social media that Israeli authorities “claimed that if MSF were to leave Gaza, its impact would be limited… This is absolutely untrue.”
MSF warned that the health system in Gaza has reached a critical point due to the war, while the urgent need for essential medical care is growing.
Mohammed Abu Jasser, supervisor of MSF’s burns unit, explained that they treat patients suffering from fractures and multiple injuries, as well as patients with severe burns.
He continued, “As a humanitarian medical organization, we treat patients, and a large segment of the population relies on us because there are no other alternatives, especially in our area of expertise at Nasser Medical Complex” in Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip.
Abu Jasser explained that if Israel prevents the organization from operating in Gaza, it will have significant negative repercussions, particularly regarding the entry of medical supplies and delegations.
The health system in Gaza is suffering from near-total paralysis due to shortages of fuel, medical equipment, and medicines, in addition to restrictions on the entry of medical aid.
It is worth noting that thousands of patients and wounded individuals receive specialized medical care from Doctors Without Borders teams, which are based at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip.
