Evacuation of the suburbs… Israeli escalation of aggression against Lebanon

The warnings issued by the Israeli occupation army to residents of Beirut’s southern suburbs, ordering them to evacuate several densely populated neighborhoods, are raising growing concerns about military preparations and could open the door to a more complex phase of the confrontation on the Lebanese scene.
This comes amidst the expansion of the occupation forces’ aggression against Lebanon and the escalation of the northern front, leading analysts to interpret these measures as indicators of field scenarios that could have significant repercussions for the Lebanese capital and its surroundings.
In this context, writer and political analyst Ahmed al-Hila stated that the occupation’s demand for residents of four major neighborhoods in the southern suburbs to evacuate their homes and head east towards the Beirut-Damascus highway, and north towards the Beirut-Tripoli highway near the Syrian border, carries significant military and political implications.
Al-Hila explained that the first of these implications is the possibility of an Israeli intention to destroy the southern suburbs on a large scale, similar to what happened in the Gaza Strip, with the aim of emptying the area of its inhabitants and striking at the popular support base of Hezbollah. He added that this scenario, if implemented, could lead to a major change in the field situation within the southern suburbs, by destroying its urban infrastructure and emptying it of its inhabitants, thus enabling Israel to impose new equations in the confrontation with the party.
