Saudi military reinforcements to Bab Al-Mandeb followed the foiling of an Emirati landing attempt
Saudi Arabia, on Monday, pushed new reinforcements to its factions stationed at Bab Al-Mandeb, coming in the wake of developments witnessed by the maritime corridor with the UAE’s attempt to return to its most important islands.
Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
Tribal sources reported that Saudi Arabia deployed experts along with advanced military equipment to monitor air navigation in Bab Al-Mandeb, not to mention mobile and light air defense systems.
These units were deployed under the protection of what is known as the “Second Giants Brigade,” led by Hamdi Shukri Al-Subahi, stationed along the maritime tongue adjacent to Bab Al-Mandeb between the governorates of Lahj and Taiz.
The Saudi step came a few days after aerial activity witnessed in the maritime corridor. Military cargo aircraft, one coming from Abu Dhabi and another from Djibouti, attempted to carry out landing operations on Mayon Island, which lies in the middle of the vital corridor in the region.
These movements reflect the scale of Saudi fears of developments that could close the outlet and exacerbate the crisis, in addition to its fears of an Emirati-Israeli scheme to impose a siege on it as it attempts to export its oil through Bab Al-Mandeb with the closure of Hormuz.
