The civil movement in Gaza warns of serious health repercussions with rising temperatures and humidity

The General Directorate of Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip warned on Wednesday of the serious health consequences facing citizens due to rising temperatures and humidity. This is attributed to the presence of bodies of martyrs still buried under the rubble of buildings destroyed by the Israeli enemy, as well as bodies buried haphazardly among the tents of displaced people and in shelters.

In a press statement, the Civil Defense Directorate in Gaza said that the decomposition of bodies in the high temperatures accelerates biological and chemical processes, leading to health, environmental, and psychological repercussions, especially given the accumulation of medical waste and the lack of hygiene facilities.

The Directorate called on the United Nations and the World Health Organization (WHO) to intervene urgently and pressure the Israeli enemy to allow the entry of equipment and machinery necessary for recovering the bodies and transferring them to cemeteries outside residential areas.

With American and European support, the Israeli enemy army has committed genocide, siege and starvation crimes in the Gaza Strip for more than two consecutive years since October 7, 2023, resulting in the martyrdom of 72,562 Palestinian civilians, most of them children and women, and the injury of 172,320 others, to date, in a non-final tally, as thousands of victims are still under the rubble and in the streets that ambulance and rescue crews cannot reach.
