Iran deploys “Gulf Dolphins” to the Strait of Hormuz

Iran – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

The commander of the Iranian naval forces, Admiral Shahram Irani, announced that the navy has deployed domestically manufactured light submarines to the Strait of Hormuz, a step aimed at enhancing readiness in the face of what he described as “hostile naval vessels.”

Irani explained, in statements reported by “Tasnim” news agency yesterday, Sunday, that these submarines, known within the navy as the “Gulf Dolphins,” were designed in accordance with the nature of threats and operational needs, affirming that they are now on full alert and have begun deploying on the seabed within the strait’s waters.

He pointed out that among the most prominent tasks of these submarines are staying for long periods at depths and detecting and tracking enemy ships, as well as the ability to target various types of naval vessels when necessary.

He added that the “Gulf Dolphins” surfaced as part of a parade of Iran’s defensive capabilities in the Strait of Hormuz before returning to the depths to complete their assigned missions.
