Yemen’s lifeline suffocates… Hudaydah Ports is between targeting, siege, and catastrophic repercussions

Al-Masirah TV documented today the stages of the aggression coalition’s targeting, led by Saudi Arabia with American-Zionist support, of Hudaydah ports, and the effects of the siege on the lifeline of Yemenis, in a report revealing the scale of systematic destruction that has struck the ports and its catastrophic repercussions on the lives of millions of Yemenis.

Officials in Hudaydah ports revealed, in a report by the Al-Masirah TV, that the port facilities have been subjected to more than 20 instances of targeting by bombardment and destruction during the period (2015-2026) in hundreds of raids, resulting in the destruction of launches, cranes, bridge cranes, docks, storage warehouses, and vital facilities.

The officials explained that the operational capacity of Hudaydah Port has declined by 70% as a result of the series of targeting, with nearly 100 workers martyred and dozens wounded.

The report indicated that the Saudi regime has multiplied the port siege through the “UNVIM” mechanism, detaining ships for months at Jizan port, imposing delay fines, and preventing the entry of more than 490 types of goods to the ports, most notably medicines, food, fertilizers, construction materials, and cars. The entry of goods during the siege and de-escalation was limited to petroleum derivatives, flour, soybeans, rice, and sugar, leading to an 88.4% reduction in the port’s reception capacity. It received only 83 ships in the first half of 2026, compared to 718 ships in 2014, with more than 6,000 daily wage workers losing their source of livelihood.

Activists and observers believe that the destruction of Hodeidah ports, which constitutes a war crime under international law, comes within a systematic strategy aimed at suffocating the Yemeni economy and starving the people, in an attempt to subdue and tame them. However, it has not achieved its goals but has rather increased the resilience of the Yemeni people and proven the failure of the aggression strategy.
