American-made… Revealing the type of bomb used in targeting the Al-Jawf correctional facility
The Executive Mine Action Center confirmed on Tuesday that the bomb used by Saudi Arabia in targeting the Central Correctional Facility in the city of Al-Hazm in Al-Jawf governorate is American-made, of the GBU-31 JDAM type, weighing 2,000 pounds.
Exclusive Follow-ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The center explained in a statement that the identification of the bomb type was made after examining the remains of the munition and the metal parts found at the targeting site.
It indicated that emergency teams documented parts of the guidance system and the tail section and linked them to products of the Boeing company.
It affirmed that the same type of munition has been used to target a number of civilian objects in Yemen in recent years.
It added that the teams are continuing survey and clearance operations in the vicinity of the correctional facility, warning of the dangers that explosive remnants may pose to the population and the environment.
Saudi aircraft had launched raids on the Central Correctional Facility in Al-Jawf yesterday, Monday, committing a horrific massacre that claimed the lives of about 14 martyrs and 7 wounded among the inmates and their civilian visitors.
