UN: Gaza is experiencing the worst economic crisis recorded in the world

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) warned on Thursday that the Gaza Strip is experiencing the worst economic crisis in the world, as the war destroyed 90% of its businesses and left hundreds of thousands unemployed.

The Israeli extermination war in Gaza caused massive destruction in the region, and even though a ceasefire agreement was reached in October 2025, Israel continues to violate the agreement and shirk its obligations.

Acting Secretary-General of UNCTAD Pedro Manuel Moreno said at a press conference held on Thursday in Geneva that the economic collapse in Gaza represents “the most severe economic crisis recorded in the world.”
