A neurology consultant at Al-Wafa Hospital in Gaza said that approximately 350,000 people in the Gaza Strip suffer from chronic diseases, at a time when the health system is experiencing an unprecedented collapse due to the ongoing Israeli aggression.
He pointed out that patients with chronic diseases face increased risks due to the shortage of medicines and difficulty accessing food, as well as their inability to afford the cost of purchasing what food may be available in the market, given the widespread poverty and the repeated forced displacement of hundreds of thousands of them.
A human rights report previously revealed that the Israeli aggression has placed these patients at “certain risk of death” as a result of the destruction of the health system and the closure of crossings, depriving them of the necessary treatment and care.
