Dr. Munir al-Barash, Director General of the Ministry of Health in Gaza, confirmed that the health situation in Gaza City is catastrophic, with thousands of deaths, injuries, and illnesses recorded, all living under tragic humanitarian conditions.
In statements to Al-Resalah newspaper, al-Barash explained that the occupation is deliberately and systematically destroying the health system, causing it to lose approximately 80% of its operational capacity within the city. This is aimed at transforming Gaza into a disaster area and forcing its residents to flee.
He pointed out that the Ministry is making efforts to establish additional medical points and field hospitals, but the continued blockade and the occupation’s prevention of the entry of essential medical supplies and medicines are weakening the health sector’s ability to cope with this tragic reality.
He explained that medical teams are working around the clock to treat hundreds of horrific and complex injuries resulting from the daily massacres, leading to a number of martyrs due to the severe collapse in health services.
Despite the challenges, Al-Barash stressed that medical personnel will continue their work and perseverance within Gaza City, emphasizing that they “will not leave and will remain with their people to provide support and assistance despite the harsh conditions.”
