Gaza Health: Forced evacuation of hospitals imposed by Israel puts the lives of hundreds of patients at risk

The Director of Health in Gaza, Munir Al-Bursh, warned today, Monday, that the forced eviction of hospitals imposed by Israel puts the lives of hundreds of patients at risk, stressing that doctors and medical staff decided to stay with the patients, especially children and intensive care cases.

Al-Barsh said, in a press statement today, that more than 200 intensive care patients need artificial respiration devices, noting that evacuating them means killing them directly, adding: “We will not leave our hospitals and we will not leave our patients, the alternative is death.”

Al-Bursh explained that hospitals in Gaza suffer from a severe shortage of basic resources, which prevents hundreds of urgent surgeries, at a time when diseases and epidemics are increasingly spread due to water pollution.

He pointed out that more than 100 cases of Ghaylan Barre syndrome were recorded, amid the inability of the medical staff to diagnose new diseases caused by the deteriorating health conditions.

Al-Barsh called on the international community to assume its legal and humanitarian responsibilities, and to implement the Geneva Conventions to protect health cadres and the civilian population, stressing that hospitals are not safe from the bombing.
