Urgent appeal to boost blood stocks

The Ministry of Health in Gaza called on all concerned parties to intervene immediately to increase the stocks of blood units and blood components in the Strip’s hospitals.

The ministry explained that the situation in blood banks is critical and threatens hospitals’ ability to provide medical care to patients and the wounded, especially in light of the ongoing Israeli aggression and the increasing number of casualties.

She explained that hospitals’ daily need for more than 350 units of blood and blood components is running out, while supply sources, including community donation campaigns, are declining due to widespread famine and malnutrition, which prevents many Palestinians from donating blood, a situation they once considered the last source of such supplies amid the ongoing Israeli blockade.
