Blatant contradiction… Despite recognizing Palestine, France and Britain continue supplying the entity with weapons

Follow-ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

The American website “The Intercept” exposed a contradiction in the positions of major Western countries, including Britain, Canada, Australia, France, and Luxembourg, which announced their recognition of the State of Palestine, yet they continue exporting weapons to Israel despite accusations of it committing genocide in Gaza.

The magazine clarified that this recognition lacks credibility, especially with the continued flow of military equipment, noting that a UN Human Rights Committee has considered arming Israel to be clear complicity.

Although Britain imposed a partial ban on some arms licenses, its exports have included thousands of bombs, missiles, and F-35 aircraft components. Canada announced a halt to new licenses but continued to export under previous licenses valued at over $94 million. France delivered $10 million worth of military equipment, while Luxembourg justified its exports as being for defensive purposes, while Australia denied direct supply but remains part of the F-35 supply chain.

In contrast, Spain and Belgium imposed a comprehensive ban, and Norway withdrew its investments from Israeli companies linked to fighter jets.

In this context, the Executive Director of the International Policy Center, Nancy Aqil, considered that recognizing Palestine will remain symbolic unless coupled with halting the arming of Israel, confirming that unconditional American support represents the biggest obstacle to genuine recognition.
