America hands over the Yemen file militarily to Britain
On Sunday, the US handed over the Yemen file militarily to Britain. This comes in the wake of its military failure to contain operations in support of Gaza.
Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
Western diplomatic sources reported that Washington has tasked its main ally in the war with managing the file of protecting navigation in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, indicating that British forces have actually begun operating flights along the nearby waters in Yemen, specifically in the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea.
Navigation tracking sites monitored the takeoff of a British spy plane from a US forces base in Qatar.
The aircraft, an “RAF RC-135W Rivet Joint,” conducted sorties over the Gulf of Aden during the past hours. This is the first time British aircraft have flown over the Gulf of Aden, but it is also the second time within a week, as British fighter jets were spotted days ago accompanied by an aerial refueling aircraft in the skies of the Red Sea, launching from a base in Cyprus that Britain had previously used in the joint aggression against Yemen.
These developments point to America’s decision to assign the Yemen file to Britain, which also holds its pen at the Security Council.
It is unclear whether the sorties are part of attempts to secure their affiliated ships or part of arrangements for a new escalation.
It is worth noting that Britain participated at the beginning of last year in a joint coalition against Yemen before deciding to withdraw from it suddenly after sustaining a series of strikes that resulted in the sinking of a number of its affiliated ships and damage to its battleship, which it had deployed in the Red Sea to support America.
The British repositioning in the region, within a strategy with the US, appears aimed at confronting a potential escalation with America arranging to target more Arab and Islamic countries.
The US had previously thrown its full weight into deciding the battle in Yemen militarily but failed.
The decision to hand over the file to Britain indicates America’s attempt to maintain the truce announced by Trump last May following the attempt to sink an aircraft carrier in the Red Sea.
