Gaza Mayor: Most of those missing under the rubble are women and children

Gaza Mayor Yahya Al-Sarraj said, on Monday, that the majority of the missing are under the ruins of the destruction in the Strip, children and women. Al-Sarraj added that the rescue teams are facing great difficulties in reaching them due to the lack of heavy equipment.

And he explained, in a statement quoted by Al-Jazeera channel, that the municipality urgently needs heavy equipment and mechanisms to retrieve the missing persons, in addition to repairing the water and sewage networks that were damaged by the bombing.

Al-Sarraj stressed that the municipality needs all the equipment that can be used to detect and recover the missing persons under the rubble, stressing that the humanitarian reality in Gaza is getting worse, with the continued inability of local capabilities to meet the scale of the disaster.
