Gaza: 24 martyrs due to collapses and the sweeping away of 7,000 tents in two days

The Government Media Office in Gaza warned of the catastrophic humanitarian consequences of the severe cold waves that are once again striking the Gaza Strip, amidst the ongoing genocide and suffocating siege, which has resulted in widespread destruction of homes and infrastructure, and the forced displacement of more than 1.5 million Palestinians to camps lacking the most basic necessities for human life.

Based on documented field data, the number of deaths caused by the extreme cold since the beginning of winter has risen to seven children. The total number of victims due to house collapses since the start of the genocide until Tuesday, January 13, 2026, reached 24, all of whom were displaced persons in forced displacement camps, including 21 children.

In addition, 7,000 tents were swept away in two days due to the strong winds and severe weather conditions. This reflects a gravely alarming escalation of the humanitarian catastrophe threatening the lives of the most vulnerable groups, particularly given the near-total lack of heating, the absence of safe shelter, and the severe shortage of blankets and winter clothing, coupled with the continued restrictions on the entry of sufficient humanitarian aid.

The Palestinian Authority media held the Israeli occupation fully and directly responsible for these crimes and their deadly consequences, considering them an extension of its policies of slow killing, starvation, and displacement.

It called upon the international community, the United Nations, and humanitarian and human rights organizations to take immediate and urgent action to provide safe shelters, allow the unrestricted entry of heating and relief supplies, and save the remaining lives before it is too late.
