Israeli website: Germany has not stopped arming the genocide in Gaza

The Israeli website 972+ published a lengthy investigative report on military relations between Germany and Israel, concluding that German arms exports to Israel continued to flow despite claims of a freeze.
The report, authored by Hanno Haunstein, explained that Germany crossed legal boundaries in its arms exports to Israel and that it did not cease arming Israel’s military campaign of genocide. Instead, it concluded a new bilateral agreement for cybersecurity and the continued flow of weapons.
Haunstein stated that recent developments in German-Israeli relations revealed a radical shift that goes beyond mere traditional diplomatic support to a deep military and security partnership, which human rights circles have described as a direct contribution to the “genocide” in the Gaza Strip.
The author emphasized that Berlin strengthened its cooperation with Tel Aviv despite international pressure, indicating that Germany’s priority has shifted from “accountability” to full “normalization” with Israeli policies.
Haunstein noted that Germany announced a partial freeze on arms export approvals to Gaza in August 2025 under pressure from images emerging from the Strip and a shift in public opinion. However, the report states that careful analysis reveals that this “freeze” was largely symbolic, as it did not include previously issued licenses, allowing the continued supply of submarines, cruisers, and Merkava tank engines without interruption.
