Mysterious viruses are plaguing the Gaza Strip, causing daily deaths. The Ministry of Health in Gaza confirmed that it cannot identify the type of virus due to a lack of necessary laboratory equipment.
According to medical sources, the virus has claimed the lives of children and women in Gaza during the winter, amidst a complete inability to combat its spread due to dire health conditions and severe overcrowding in displacement camps.
The spread of the virus coincides with the suffering of more than 1.5 million displaced Palestinians in shelters scattered throughout the Gaza Strip, conditions even more dire than during the two years of the war waged by Israel in October 2013.
This situation has prompted international and Palestinian human rights and relief organizations to warn of a worsening of the unprecedented humanitarian crisis gripping the Strip, exacerbated by the continued closure of crossings by the Israeli occupation forces and the imposition of a tight siege that prevents the entry of aid and various forms of assistance to the Strip’s residents.
