Israeli occupation authorities renewed the administrative detention of 38 Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli prisons in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem on Wednesday.
The Palestinian Prisoners’ Affairs Commission and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club explained in a joint statement that the occupation authorities issued new administrative detention orders and renewed previous orders against the aforementioned prisoners.
The data showed that the detention orders were distributed as follows: four months for 16 prisoners, six months for 20 prisoners, and orders for five and three months for two prisoners.
Administrative detention is defined as imprisonment without charge or trial, and without allowing the detainee or their lawyer access to the evidence, in clear violation of international humanitarian law. Israel remains the only country in the world that employs this policy.
