Guterres to the international community: Support Lebanon to stop the war with Israel

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres affirmed on Saturday in Beirut that diplomatic channels remain open to end the war in Lebanon between Hezbollah and Israel, while simultaneously calling on the international community to redouble its efforts to support the Lebanese state.

During a press conference at the conclusion of his two-day visit to Lebanon, Guterres emphasized, “There is no military solution; the only solution lies in diplomacy and dialogue.” He added, “Diplomatic channels remain open, including through my Special Coordinator for Lebanon, as well as through key member states.”

Guterres continued, “My message to the international community is simple: redouble your efforts, empower the Lebanese state, and provide it with support.”
