A fire lasted more than 30 hours on board the US aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford
The New York Times reported that a fire broke out on board the US aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford that lasted more than 30 hours, causing logistical damage inside the ship.
Follow-ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The newspaper quoted sailors and military officials as saying the incident resulted in more than 600 sailors losing their sleeping quarters, forcing them to sleep on floors and tables, in addition to laundry services on the carrier being disrupted.
In this context, the Greek newspaper Kathimerini reported that the carrier, currently deployed in the Middle East, will return to the Souda base in Crete during the next week to refuel and possibly to open an investigation into the circumstances of the fire.
According to the data, several hypotheses for the cause of the incident are being considered, including the possibility that it was deliberate, in light of the significant operational pressures facing US naval crews after prolonged deployment in tension zones.
