Hebrew Media: Iran targeted a chemical complex south of the occupation 3 times within a week

The Israel Hayom newspaper acknowledged that Iran carried out three missile strikes targeting the chemical industries complex in the Ramat Hovav area near Beersheba within a single week, a development reflecting the escalation of targeting sensitive industrial structures.

The newspaper reported that the first strike occurred on March 29, when a missile hit a facility belonging to the Adama Makhteshim company, leading to a fire and raising the alert level for fear of leakage of dangerous chemicals, including sulfur dioxide.

It added that a second attack targeted the same site last Thursday, leaving additional damage and new fires, while a third missile fell on Sunday near the facility without causing direct damage.

The newspaper affirmed that the repeated targeting is “not random,” pointing to the strategic importance of the Ramat Hovav area as one of the largest centers for chemical and petrochemical industries, making it a sensitive security and environmental target.

It explained that any direct hit could lead to the leakage of hazardous materials threatening residents, especially as the complex is close to Beersheba and residential communities, amid growing concerns over environmental and psychological repercussions on civilians.

This comes in the context of reciprocal escalation, where Tehran seeks, according to the newspaper, to establish a “facility for facility” equation in response to the targeting of its vital facilities.
