Hunger threatens the lives of the remaining children in Gaza

While international warnings about the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip continue to mount, figures confirm that starvation has become a deadly reality for children, exacerbated by the obstruction of food aid deliveries to the Strip.

According to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), hunger has become a “horrifying reality” threatening the lives of hundreds of thousands of children. More than 70,000 children in Gaza suffer from acute malnutrition, while over one million children face the risk of starvation.

Palestinian human rights organizations consider this situation a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, which guarantees families the right to know the fate of their loved ones and criminalizes enforced disappearance as a crime against humanity.

The issue of missing persons and the remains of victims remains one of the most complex and painful humanitarian issues, especially after the Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip, which began on October 7, 2013, resulted in the deaths of more than 72,000 Palestinians in Gaza, most of them children and women.
