Yemen annihilates Bin Salman’s most prominent vision, 2030 projects

In 2025, Saudi Arabia concluded an agreement with major Turkish military manufacturing companies to acquire what was classified as one of the most important inventions of the modern era, as part of Saudi Arabia’s projects for what is known as Vision 2030. However, months after it entered the theater of operations, Yemen annihilated it.

The deal at the time included the transfer of “Bayraktar” drone technology, with Saudi Arabia focusing on the modern version of these drones, known as the “Akıncı.” This drone features many advantages, including very high-altitude flight and the ability to carry large payloads.

The project cost, according to what was announced, approximately $3 billion. The company began work in Saudi Arabia in the same year and produced several drones of this class.

Saudi Arabia’s eagerness to acquire this type of drone was based on a Turkish marketing campaign that began in 2007 and intensified recently, especially in Syria, where it contributed to supporting factions loyal to Ankara in overthrowing the previous regime.

Today, months after Saudi manufacturing, Yemen is redefining the capabilities of these drones, as it typically does by dismantling previous propaganda about the American “MQ-9,” whose downing has become as common as flies, in addition to the Chinese “Wing Loong.”

The Turkish drone may have caught Saudi Arabia’s attention in a theater of operations far from the nature of Yemen and the capabilities of its forces. However, with its downing, it highlights Saudi Arabia as someone trying to cling to a straw to avoid drowning.
