Gaza records a new increase in the number of victims

The humanitarian situation in Gaza remains dire, despite the influx of some aid following the ceasefire. Reports indicate that the population is facing a combination of widespread displacement, the collapse of basic services, chronic malnutrition, and the destruction of infrastructure.

The Gaza Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday, August 25, that the death toll in the Gaza Strip has risen to 73,431, with 173,437 injuries since the start of the war on October 7, 2013.

The ministry noted that hospitals in the Strip received nine bodies in the past 24 hours, including two who succumbed to their injuries and one whose body was recovered. It confirmed that a number of victims remain trapped under rubble and in the streets, as rescue and ambulance crews face difficulties in reaching and recovering them.

The United Nations condemned Israel’s threats to evacuate residents from areas in Gaza from which incendiary kites, drones, and balloons are launched, deeming the rhetoric from Israeli officials “unacceptable” and a violation of international law.

The UN Human Rights Commission said the threat to expel residents because of “knives flown by children” was “outrageous,” while Hamas accused Israel of using these incidents as a “pretext” to launch deadly raids.
